Unfit Essex Girl vs Bear Grylls

Remember when I did my first Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research? Well, shortly after said event, I signed up (without thinking) to Cancer Research & SU2C’s Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Race. Try and say that when you’ve had a drink.

I still think it’s a good idea as I love a good challenge, but, boy have I skipped out on training. Typical lazy Emily. I have exactly two months till I compete and I can barely run 5k without stopping, complete 1 pull up or even get through five sets of chest flies without wanting to crawl back to my bed and hide.

Yes, I make it sound like I am totally unfit, which is an exaggeration, but I am nowhere near the standard I need to be right now. Cycling 10 miles each day isn’t going to cut it, and today’s cycle ride to a local Spanish town with my family proved it. The minute I am home, it’s back to Bear’s training plan. Although, I could even start now… 30 laps of the pool?
